Lore & Background

Cassian is introduced as the head of security for Gianna D'Antonio, a member of the High Table. He is first seen at Gianna's coronation in Rome, where he immediately identifies John Wick as a threat. After John kills Gianna (who has already slit her own wrists to avoid a worse fate), Cassian attacks John in the catacombs, forcing him to flee. Their fight is interrupted when they enter the Rome Continental, where the manager Julius stops them from 'conducting business.' Cassian tells John he understands why he killed Gianna—due to her brother Santino's marker—but cannot let it go unpunished. He promises John a quick death. Later, in the New York City Subway, Cassian and John engage in a grueling melee that ends with Cassian being stabbed in the aorta and left for dead.

In Their Own Story

The rain slicked the cobblestones of Rome as Cassian adjusted his cufflinks. No music played here, only the distant hum of a city unaware of the violence waiting to unfold. He checked the dossier one last time; the target was already dead, killed by someone else's hand. The High Table did not care who pulled the trigger, only that the order was fulfilled. Cassian nodded to his contact in the shadows and vanished into the night, another ghost keeping the world turning.

Reader's Guide

Cassian is defined by his unwavering loyalty to Gianna D'Antonio and his sense of honor. He serves as Gianna's personal bodyguard, tasked with protecting her from threats. His skills include advanced hand-to-hand combat and tactical fighting, as shown in his brutal melee with John Wick in the subway. Unlike John Wick, he does not seek retirement or redemption; he is a function of his duty to his employer. Defining moments include his fight with John in the catacombs, his promise of a quick death, and his final confrontation in the New York City Subway where he is stabbed in the aorta.
